The production arts course provides you with an excellent range of experience in technical theatre. A fast-paced course, it aims to make you a rounded theatre technician by working on The Season of events in Conservatoire EAST – a mix of straight plays, drama, musical theatre, comedies, music gigs and media screenings.
What will I do?
You will learn technical skills in lighting design, stage management, sound engineering, scene construction and production management as well as the vital personal skill of working as part of a team.
You learn the skills on rotation, getting practical experience by working on the events in Tee Season. You will also have at least one opportunity to tour backstage and watch a West End production.
What can I do next?
After completing your Extended Diploma, you will be in a perfect position to apply for drama school/university to study Production Arts and/or Technical Theatre in more detail.
Is it for me?
If you are interested in theatre, would describe yourself as ‘hands on’ but don’t necessarily want to perform on stage, this is for you!
The predicted growth in numbers of live events means more than 30,000 new jobs will be created by 2017.

“My passion for production arts comes from a love of theatre and appreciating the extra ‘behind the scenes’ elements that put the wow factor into a show!
