BA (Hons) Music Production (Progression Route)
Have you been longing for a career in the music industry? If your answer is yes and you are not afraid to work hard, then this could be your first step to success. The FdA and BA (Hons) combines hands-on training with industry professionals and great networking opportunities. The course progression from FdA to BA (Hons) explores many diverse jobs within the industry and helps to focus your skill set.
Content and Modules
FdA modules include: Composition, Live Sound Recording, Audio Systems, Sound and Image, Studio Recording, Research Skills, Production Music, Major Client Project, Mixing Techniques and Sound for Computer Games
BA (Hons) modules include: Audio Restoration, Creative Post Production, Professional Business Skills, Scoring For Media, (using Sibelius 7.5 and Pro Tools 11) and a dissertation project.
UCS Bury St Edmunds is an approved AVID Sponsored School and a J.A.M.E.S Accredited Course.
A feature of the course is the opportunity to achieve accredited Pro Tools training (AVID 101, 110, 130, 201 & 210M qualifications).
You will live sound engineer for prestigious recordings including ‘The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’.
Many industry producers have given guest lectures including George Shilling, Tony Platt, Hayden Bendall and Phil Murphy. We have regular visits from industry bodies such as PRS, Audio Network, Focusrite and Cedar Audio. Tim Young (Mastering Engineer of the Year 2011) has also offered students a visit to Metropolis studio which they describe as ‘truly amazing’.

His debut album was written, performed and produced by himself before being mastered at Metropolis Studios, London. The album was released on the 28th May 2013. Since graduating Dale has had his album Dale has had his music featured on BBC Introducing Suffolk, BBC Introducing Essex, Cambridge 105 and Cam FM.
George set his sights on a career as a mix and recording engineer. His dissertation study on analogue and digital mixing was completed with a mastered track by Tim Young at Metropolis Studios.
George secured a place as a recording engineer and mixing producer based at The Crypt Studio, London within weeks of completing his BA (Hons) in 2015.
