Conservatoire EAST is expanding and is now offering professional acting training to anyone aged 18+. The course is specifically designed to help you learn new skills and improve your acting techniques.

Entry Requirements

Whatever your previous experience you are welcome. You don’t need any formal qualifications or experience, simply a desire to improve your acting and stagecraft skills or learn new acting skills from scratch.

Is it for me?

  • Whatever your previous experience you are welcome.
  • You have limited acting experience but are very interested.
  • You’ve done some acting before and would like to do more.
  • You currently act and would like to continue honing your skills.

What you’ll learn

This course is suitable for those who have an interest in acting. Workshops will cover a number of subjects including:

  • Improvisation
  • Movement
  • Text work
  • Voice
  • Character work
  • Acting technique

After this, you will have the opportunity to be in the cast of a full production shown to the public in a major venue in Bury St Edmunds Town Centre.

What you’ll need to bring

Students must come to classes wearing garments that are easy to move in and, preferably, that provide a blank canvas for character work.

Gary Willis

Director of Performance

My passion has always been for all forms of performance art. I spent 25 years in the professional theatre as an actor, singer, dancer, choreographer and director in the West End, all over the UK and abroad in Spain, Holland and the USA. I love to share my passion with students and prepare them so that they can pursue their dream career, whatever that may be. “To live out loud!” Emile Zola.

Erica Dupuy

Course Director & Stand Up Comedian

I am a professional actress who also has commissions as a writer and director. I have worked with touring improvisation groups including the Cambridge Improv Factory and am still working as a stand-up comic. I can’t stand monotony or boredom; luckily I don’t get this in my job!
