Dear All,

As a community, we are facing a rapidly changing situation regarding the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak. As such, I am writing to update you on how Conservatoire EAST at West Suffolk College is responding.

I would like to take this opportunity to reassure you that the health and well-being of our students and staff is of the highest priority and I would like to thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.

I am thrilled to be able to announce that as of September 2020, we are teaching in Conservatoire EAST, full time, face to face, with social distancing measures in place. We are asking students to arrive on campus wearing a mask but in many of your classes you will be wearing a visor where appropriate (which we will provide for you). We are keeping group numbers small enough to ensure the majority of classes will go ahead as per a ‘normal’ year, but with activities adapted to socially distance.  There will be the occasional class which is split in half or alternated between weeks. Singing lessons will be online as will our Autumn Season of shows – they will all be delivered digitally/virtually!

For the next couple of weeks we can still accept late applications and understand completely that in these very uncertain times students may have started courses/subjects they now regret. We offer supportive but highly disciplined training and encourage our students to work hard to succeed in subjects they love exploring. Please check out the courses and pathways we offer and apply online. You can also see our pages for new students here.

If you have any queries around the college’s wider response to COVID-19 please refer to the website where the information is available –

Best wishes,

Han Colthorpe
